One of Tuan Vo-Dinh's first patents was for a disimeter, a device that workers in plants and laboratories can clip to their clothing. At the end of the day, the disimeter gives a reading of any material that the employee has been exposed to.
Dr. Vo-Dinh also invented a device that can recognize the mutation of genes in the human body and determine the likelihood of someone developing a disease such as cancer, tuberculosis, or alzheimer; or detect a virus like HIV or any microbes.
