Inventors Particle Accelerators

The reason for most of the development of of particle accelerators has been because they are needed to research into the properties of atomic nuclei and subatomic particles. A particle accelerator produces a beam of fast-moving, electrically charged atomic or subatomic particles.

Cyclotron
Ernest Orlando Lawrence invented the cyclotron, a device that greatly increased the speed with which projectiles could be hurled at atomic nuclei, the first particle accelerator to achieve high energies.
