Banks Mullis is an American molecular biologist who developed the polymerase
chain reaction or PCR technique. PCR allows specific regions of DNA to
be copied many times from a tiny sample, amplifying it to a large enough
quantity to be analysed.
Kary Banks Mullis was the inventor
of PCR, the process for amplifying nucleic acids - National Inventors Hall
Nobel Prize in Chemistry 1993
"for his invention of the polymerase
chain reaction (PCR) method"
